THE SPRING SESSIONS:

The ETS College Grab Bag Classes this Spring (beginning March 17th) will focus on the ETS objectives: College and Career exploration, Study Skills, Financial Aid and college Admission-- along with the Grab Bag subjects of writing, music, art, pop culture and education.

Students that regularly attend the Grab Bag Class will be eligible to participate in the June ETS Trip (details TBD).  This trip will take students to either Portland or Seattle where we will visit College campuses, art museums, attend a concert, visit the aquarium, etc.  All expenses paid by ETS.  To go on the trip, students must attend the Grab Bag Class regularly.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
The ETS Grab Bag College Class is what the name implies: a grab bag.  The class will cover the primary ETS objectives: College financial aid, scholarships, career and college exploration, and study skills tips and tricks.  Also included in the course will be a grab bag of college classroom styled discussions on college life, pop culture, learning and education, music, film, technology and generational values.  Students will be required to keep a weekly journal as well as complete reading assignments, essays and three exams.

MATERIALS:
A notebook for journaling— or the ability to email journal entries to instructor.  Texts and other class materials will be provided.

OBJECTIVES
• To provide students with a fundamental knowledge of the college financial aid process.
• To aid students in developing their scholarship portfolio.
• Upon completion students should have an idea of how the college classroom format/ environment operates.
• To aid students in their search for their respective career and college choices.
• To encourage students to internalize and journal their experiences. 
• To expose students to college level subject matter and assist in developing their discussion skills.

CONDUCT and POLICIES
Students are expected to behave in a manner that reflects good courtesy, respect to others and attentiveness. I reserve the right to drop any student that fails to comply with common classroom conduct.  Students are encouraged to express their opinions on the presented materials and be active participants in discussions.  This is paramount to the success of the group. Attendance is paramount to success. 

GRADING PLAN
Students will be graded by how well they score in three categories:
• Attendance and participation in classroom discussions
• Exams
• Completion of journaling assignments
